Somewhat unfortunately, I’m in that boring group. I can’t design, I can’t draw, and I sure can’t envision the garden underneath the vacant lot much less the park underneath the former brownfield. What I can do, though, is love the ideas and hope that they are what is best for the people that use them and live with them.
Radials is sort of a catchall for those ideas: urban planning, transportation planning, public space initiatives, gentrification, neo-urban renewal. Everything from updates on subway projects (and subway advisories for those in Boston) to mega-projects like the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn will be discussed here, with varying degrees of success. You might even learn something once in a while.
Radials is the creation of Theodore Brown, a transportation planner and writer living in Brooklyn after half a decade in Boston and a childhood spent in Singapore, Thailand, and Mexico. All opinions expressed here solely represent the writer and do not represent the opinions of any employers or clients.
